Hi, my name is Emma and I’m starting this fundraiser for my nearly 3 year old son, Logan. Logan was born at 25 weeks, 1 day gestation and weighed only 1 pound and 12 ounces. He lived in the NICU in saint Louis for 116 days before coming home to be with his family. Shortly after coming home Logan was diagnosed with epilepsy, a dime sized hole in his heart, and level 4 cerebral palsy, specifically spastic quadriplegia, which means his entire body is affected and he’s painfully tight and tense. Logans specific brain damage is only done to the part of his brain that controls movement, so he is essentially trapped inside of his body. Logan’s projected ability is incredibly limited. Doctors say he cannot walk with the level of his diagnosis. But with new science, his young age, proper therapy, stem cell treatments, and specific diets we can improve Logan’s life drastically. Because of Logan’s extensive needs I stay at home with him and I take Logan to anywhere between 2-3 different therapy appointments per week. I am currently 36 weeks pregnant with another little boy who is very healthy. It is mine and my partners goal to use the umbilical cord for stem cell transplants for Logan to help “rewire” his brain. Stem cells from a sibling have a much greater affect. Each stem cell treatment will cost nearly $2000 and we also have to pay for flights, and hotels from Saint Louis, Missouri to Queens, New York. He will need upwards of 10 stem cell treatments. As a family of soon to be 5 on only one income, we cannot afford the travel treatments expenses, and stem cell treatments, and therapy copays ($75 a visit). Logan is the happiest person anybody has ever met and if there’s anybody who truly deserves a chance to be mobile it’s him. I’m embarrassed to reach out to everybody and ask for help, but it take a village, right?
