One year ago, I Lauren Wismer was diagnosed with the debilitating  disease ALS. I have been so blessed and grateful for the support from family, friends and ALS Foundations, including Guardian Angels that donated a motorized wheelchair to me. 

Every month as I face increasing physical limitations more medical equipment is needed. We presently are in need of a van with a wheelchair ramp. Having such a van would mean so much to me. It will allow me to use my motorized wheelchair outside of my home, providing me with what little independence I have left.

Looking into Mobility vans we found them financially prohibiting  due to the elevated costs of the automated ramp system.  Through the ALS Association, a used Toyota Sienna that will meet my needs has become available. We need to raise the funds within a week to purchase this van.

As I remain hopeful for a cure, hardships are increasing; I can no longer work, I was denied disability and Medicare while also getting notice our medical insurance is terminating at the end of the month because Land of Lincoln Health is bankrupt!
