Fight Cancer for Jane Nichols Fund
One of the most important things in life is a Mother's relationship with her son. My Mother Jane Nichols has always been there for me and it is my honor to return the favor. This woman is one of the most influential people in many of the lives that she has touched. Her kindess, sense of humor and giving nature serve as a testament of how to live life in God's good graces. An amazing sister to all of her siblings. A wonderful wife to my Dad. An excellent mother to her two sons Joe and myself. Loving Grandmother to Riley. And a good friend to countless many.
Yet despite, living the life of true angel on this earth she has had to fight not once, not twice but three times against the demon that is Cancer. Nearly 18 years ago she fought and won the fight against Breast Cancer. The battle was hard fought but she was victorious and she became the definition of a true Cancer Survivor. She remained Cancer free for many years until she grew terribly ill and doctors found a mass that was diagnosed as Non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2015. Once again she went through the rigors of Chemotherapy, endless doctors appointments, naseua, weightloss and emotional turmoil to oversome this horrible disease. By the start of 2016 she was given the all clear by her Oncologist and began to live life as normal...babysitting her granddaughter, vacationing with family and even getting hired to a new job. Life was good once again. Regretfully, just as things seemed to be back on track she began to feel ill again and test results determined the Cancer had returned. Doctor's started the process of more Chemotherapy while discussing options of Stem-Cell Therapy as a means of eradicating the Cancer. The combination of the Chemotherapy and other mediations used for treatment were brutal but my Mom came through like a champion. The Cancer was reduced to a more dormant state enough so that she is now a candidate for Stem-Cell Thearpy. She was referred to Duke Univerisity Medical Center where she will receive the Stem-Cell Therapy. Ironically she will begin her first premilnary treatments on her birthday.
This brings us to why we need your help...while insurance will cover a good deal of the cost for the treatments themselves it will not cover additional related costs. The money we raise will be used as supplemental funds for extended care associated with the treatments. As I metioned my Mom willl be away from home while receiving the Stem-Cell Therapy at Duke University Medical Center. She will have to become a resident patient while receiving the treatments. Costs associated with this residency are not covered by inusrance and is a big reason why your help is needed.
Asking for help is one of the most humbling experiences, in particular when a family is dealing with a crisis such as this. We have the upmost hope that by asking for and hopefully receiving this help from our friends and family that this will be the calalyst to a successfull healing process for my Mom, Jane Nichols.
Our enitre family would like to extend many thanks to any and all of you who can give whatever you can to help our family in this time of need. Hope is one of the most powerful assets we have...your help is needed to give it wings!
God Bless You,
The Nichols Family
