"Let's insure Marci and Lon"

Hello:  We are a few friends of Marci Woodruff and Lon Durbin.  You know them.  You know they are funny and smart and wildly generous.  And stubborn - - you know they would never ask for help - - would, in fact, eat ground glass before requesting monetary assistance of any kind.   So we took this request out of their hands because that's just the kind of pushy friends we are.

If Marci had her way, this would be a campaign to raise Penn Mac gift cards . . . but our real mission is to generate cash because Marci and Lon each have significant medical issues and their health insurance is running out.  What we need is to raise funds to pay for healthcare coverage for them.   Their current coverage runs out the beginning of October 2016, so we don't have much time.  By then, we need to have put a new policy in place and make it possible for them to pay monthly premiums so they can be helped and get well and strong and we can all spend happy times with them again.  And food.  And music.  And wonderful conversation and lots of laughing. 

These funds we are raising are meant to cover insurance and medical bills temporarily until Marci and Lon can sell their home, improve cash flow, and move to a smaller, more manageable residence.   (Which, against huge odds, is what they currently are making happen.)  Marci's heart disease and Lon's recuperation from cancer are gargantuan obstacles to such a massive undertaking as packing up and moving but evidently are not gargantuan enough to stop them.

We want to ensure that all their strengths can be focused on a successful house sale and creating a new home.  They have jumped medical hurdles in the past years that, honestly, would knock anybody flat - - but those challenges have not been able to keep these two down.  And here's why:  All of us who know Marci and Lon realize that through thick and thin they support their family and friends with all their hearts and every personal resource.  In turn, they derive their own greatest strengths from the support and encouragement they receive from those friendships.  No one understands love and friendship more deeply or clearly than Marci and Lon.  No one is more loyal or loving to their community or friends.  

We, that community of friends, can help Marci and Lon now, by making it possible for our friends to focus their efforts on settling in a new home and getting well.  Let's take the anxiety of funding medical coverage off their shoulders.  Let's support those people we love.
