I have set this account up for a family member I am very close to, my sister. I just found out that her living situation has been uprooted yet again. Due to this being all of a sudden (change in emergency living situation) I come before everyone humbly to ask for not only prayers but any donations that you can give even if it’s a dollar every little bit counts and very much appreciated! Thank you so much!!!
A little about my sister:
Esther, a single mother, is and always has been very independent but her diagnoses with thyroid cancer have set her back tremendously. It all started when she was living in an apartment with preexisting, undisclosed water leaks which eventually flooded and damaged everything they owned. Due to the ongoing leaks and negligence of management to take care of the situation it had unfortunately lead to mold. The mold had been existent for nearly two years that is when her health started to deteriorate. Esther reached out for legal advice and it was recommended for her to get the unit tested which she did and the test results came out with mold levels being higher inside than out. During this whole process Esther constantly missed work and Sierra (my niece) missed school due to the illnesses (severe migraines and sinus allergies) that arose from it.
At this point she had to hire an attorney in hopes that the attorney could work with the landlords to transfer them to another unit they refused.
Esther continued to work and supplemented her income and quickly depleted the small savings account she had to compensate for days missed at work and covering the cost of co pays, and prescriptions. Esther did not have a primary doctor at this point she was making appointments through a clinic near her home and was misdiagnosed she was given prescriptions related to these misdiagnoses. It wasn’t until she was able to obtain health Insurance through her employer when she was finally able to see her primary doctor (this is when she was diagnosed with stage 4 thyroid cancer). Esther’s primary Doctor sent her for emergency surgery which was in April of 2015 and hospitalized yet again in May for an even more extensive surgery (15 hour surgery that would remove the cancer tumor).
Nearly a year later, and after several follow ups with several different specialist she just found out she will need to undergo another treatment. Not only has Esther had to immediately move out of her home where the mold was detected and move in with a family member she has had to move yet again and not by choice but because she was forced out...this is where I come before everyone to ask for help. My sister is not a prideful person whatsoever she believes in working hard for what you need and want. I’ve decided to make this page for her because I know her situation and like I said any little bit will help. She is not only fighting a health battle but her livelihood too. Even though she has found temporary housing she has yet to recover physically, emotionally, mentally and financially.
The entire trauma these two have been through, especially Sierra seeing her mom suffer and not knowing what would happen to her. They both need a break and a fresh start.
