Nelson Family Recovery Fund
A truly remarkable person! That is how I would describe my friend, Brian Nelson. Brian is an amazing husband to his beautiful wife, Heather; he is an incredible father to his 4yr old little boy, Kody; and anyone that has gotten to know Brian, quickly understands that he is a great friend and an even better person. Brian is one of those great guys that enjoys the opportunity to assist his pals in any way he can, and he wouldn’t shy away from a perfect stranger in need of a helping hand. Unfortunately, this time it is Brian and Nelson family that needs our help. Brian’s unwavering pride will not allow him to seek support from his friends, and hopefully even from some of those perfect strangers… so I will ask for him.
Brian recently decided to see his physician about some pain and discomfort he was experiencing. It was quickly discovered that he was in need of emergency surgery to remove a tumor. On August 23rd Brian was diagnosed with Seminoma (Testicular Cancer). Emotionally stressed and justifiably scared, Brian was rushed into surgery the following day. The tumor was removed successfully and Brian has since been recovering at home. Brian was lucky to have caught the cancer when he did and have the surgery performed so quickly. The Nelson family was desperately hoping that the surgery remained the only necessary step to his recovery. Brian’s friends and family have been praying that the cancer has not metastasized. As they anxiously awaited the results of testing, Brian and the family remained in good spirits, as they always seem to be. Many people have reached out to the Nelson family for support and strength in the recent days, a testament to Brian’s good nature and the family’s unbelievable character. However, on August 31st, Brian received the news that his cancer had possibly spread into his blood cells. Brian is currently awaiting blood tests to verify the cancer stage. If the cancer is stage II Brian’s doctors have recommended an aggressive treatment plan involving Chemotherapy and/or Radiation Therapy. If the cancer is stage I, Brian may or may not have to pursue more intrusive treatment.
At the moment, this is where Brian and the Nelson family stands. They know that this will be a lifelong battle for Brian involving immediate treatment, recovery, and intense follow-up. Brian will defeat his cancer. There is nothing in life that Brian does not approach with steely resolve. Heather and Kody, along with many of Brian’s friends and family remain optimistic in the face of these troubling times.
The Nelson family will have some hardships along the way, as you can imagine. That is the reason for the Nelson Family Recovery Fund. Unfortunately, life continues while Brian fights. The Nelson’s need some assistance with the huge medical expenses sure to come, as well as, some supplemental income while Brian is out of work recovering. If you can pitch in $5 or $10 to help some good people, please do so. The donation process is quick and easy. You may remain anonymous if you wish. If you can donate more, that’s even better! If you cannot donate at all, please feel free to share the news. The more people that can see this the more donations that can be made… and the more we can help give back to the Nelson family for all they do for others, now and in the future.
Thank you for your generosity!
