Go fund me UPDATE on Liz
As we continue to fundraise and support Liz in various ways during this (temporary) cancer journey, we wanted to provide an update on her journey to date and going forward.
Liz finished 4 rounds of AC chemo (commonly referred to as the “red devil”) on 4/11. Early into these treatments she embraced her new bald look and struggled with severe fatigue and deep bone pain. Through it all the support of friends have meant more than she could put into words.
Just finishing a 2 weeks “break” she is now starting taxol chemo 1x a week for the next 12 weeks. This will be (hopefully) followed with a lumpectomy in mid-August. This prayerfully will give her enough time to heal as much as possible before her daughter Emily’s wedding on 9/6/25. Then in mid September she will undergo Radiation treatments 5 days a week for 6 weeks. All of this combined WILL lead to the total obliteration of this pesky cancer! Keep those prayers going up!!
Liz is beyond grateful for the donations to date because GFM has paid for her insurance premiums! (She does not get medical insurance through an employer.) It has also paid for her deductibles, housecleaning, general medications, and nutritional supplements which she needs for when struggling with eating (a side effect of treatment). It has also paid for 2 therapeutic massage treatments for bone and joint pain. We are 21% of the way to our $50,000 goal so if you feel open to supporting her in this way, please know every little bit helps in a big way!
Liz shared that when she had an especially scary bout of horrific bone pain early in the first treatment, she didn’t hesitate to think about going to the ER (or having to get an ambulance if needed, although it wasn’t) grateful for the funds collected here to give her financial security in the midst of uncertainty. She is motivated to help provide this same financial peace to other cancer patients in the future when she is on the other side of her own battle!

For those that know and love Liz, you know what a giving spirit she has. The kind that sees a need, and jumps right in to provide without any expectation of recognition. Whether cooking homemade soups by the gallons for friends and family to feel better and to raise money for charity, collecting home necessities and clothing for local homeless families in a motel, volunteering her time in the community and at her church, and just being fully present at loved ones side. Now with her recent shocking diagnosis of aggressive triple negative breast cancer, it is our time to see a need Liz has, and jump in to help her, and to be by her side.
There are many ways over the next year (or two) that you can choose to do this in your own way, prayers, cards, calls and texts. One big need that has been identified, is supporting Liz financially as she is unable to work her job as a postpartum doula h for at least the next 18 months. While she is blessed to have health insurance, her out of pocket costs for the next two years will be approximately $15,000 and her living expenses from her salary that typically help with household expenses of $1600/month for 18 months will be $28,800. There may also be unexpected costs like transportation to care, hospital stays and additional medications that we want Liz to feel confident she can afford. We are hoping to raise $50,000 with the heart felt goal to take the stress of finances away from Liz so that she can solely focus on her cancer battle while still enjoying the abundant life with family and friends that give her so much joy. What is donated will go into a separate account Liz has so that the funds are directly used for her medical costs and house needs. In true Liz style, WHEN her cancer battle is WON and she is back loving on those babies and families at work, any funds not used will be donated to someone in the midst of their own cancer battle.
