Help Sammy and Chase

On February 12 of this year, my sister Sammy received a phone call. Her husband was in an accident and was in an ambulance on the way to the hospital. I remember the moment that I found out, and as I prayed, my heart broke into a million pieces knowing that she was experiencing a fear I know too well. A fear that makes your legs go numb, time stand still, a fear that is so physically and emotionally painful, and still, all these things don’t come close to describing this fear accurately.
As more details surfaced, we found out that one of Chase’s tires blew out on his way to work, and he lost control of his truck. He was thrown from his vehicle into a ditch, where two nursing students found him. He was taken via ambulance to Forest General Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS for emergency surgery, a three day recovery in ICU, and ten days in the hospital. Chase broke his leg, hip, pelvis, tailbone, and also sustained injuries to his foot, right shoulder, and neck. We praised God for his life… knowing it could have been so much worse.
And so began a very long and tough journey for both Chase and Sammy. His recovery has been slow and trying, with many obstacles. Chase was wheelchair bound for two months, until he could finally start weight bearing and learning how to walk again on his own. Chase was out of work until he was released to go back part time on June 30th, and then released to go back full time at the end of July. Now, 7 months after the accident, doctors are concerned that Chase’s bones are not healing like they should. A current MRI and CT has shown that Chase needs a rod replacement in his leg. Chase was also let go from work. Sammy has been paying all of their bills since February, and she has taken time off to stay with him in the hospital, care for him, and take him to the many appointments he has had since then.
If you don’t know my sister, let me tell you…she is kind. She is selfless. She is humble. She is hardworking. She has one of the most beautiful hearts I’ve ever known. And she would never ask for help, no matter how tough times are. She came to me and asked for prayers because their financial problems stemming from this accident are becoming overwhelming. And so, I am praying, and I’m asking that you will too. I’m starting this Go Fund Me because I cannot bear to think of my sister struggling when she works so hard for what she has. And I wish I had done it sooner. Please help if you can, and if you can’t, please pray that God will heal Chase, and that their financial burdens can be lifted. Thank you!
