Hello, my name is Joshua Ferrell, husband to Erin Ferrell (Trumble), who was recently diagnosed on Thanksgiving '24 with Stage 2 Invasive Breast Cancer. Invasive Breast Cancer is when it has spread from the breast to the lymph nodes throughout the body and is very aggressive in nature. Her surgeon and oncologist doctors say that this kind of cancer will show up with no warning and move very rapidly in a short period of time.
- I have been nudged to create this GoFundMe page to help support and pay for her medical bills, medications, travel, insurance costs due to the length of time she will be out of work, surgeries, and all the essentials needed to help get her through this first phase of treatment. Also, a possible lifelong treatment of maintenance, "God willing," of this type of cancer. This nudge came from family members and friends. We both don't like asking for help, also known as stubbornness! However, I'm the more open and emotional half of us, and putting it out there is a little bit easier for me to do and asking for help in this long, tough road ahead.
- First and foremost, Erin! Born October 22nd, 1989, in Geneva, New York. A loving daughter to Debra and Kent Trumble of Waterloo, New York. Also, a sister to Eric & Evan Trumble. A caring, supportive, and AMAZING mother to her son Hunter (8) and stepson Jordan (17). She is also the go-to aunt for anything fun and exciting. Erin has worked so hard in life at EVERYTHING, including her career in banking, parenting, being a spouse, a sibling that gently forces family bonding, and so much more. Erin's actions speak for themselves, period! With that said, we both have been very aggressive with treatment and doing everything we can to stop this.
- She was rushed in for a biopsy, rushed in for an MRI, and countless and numerous different types of CT scans before she needed to have a port placement in her chest for chemotherapy. The port is needed so her arms don't become torn up from so many injections and was surgically placed for direct entrance into a large vein under her collarbone. We have been to the hospital and doctor's office more times in the last 2 months than we both have combined in our entire lives. She currently has a 20-week straight chemotherapy treatment plan that is very aggressive due to her age and the severity of the cancer. She started her first treatment on 12/27/24. She is currently on the (A/C) treatment that includes "The Red Devil" and another type of chemotherapy drug directly after. Once the first 8 weeks are complete of the A/C, more scans and hopefully she moves to the (T) chemotherapy treatment. She is on her second treatment currently and in every other week periods due to the strength of the medication. Yes, her hair is gone along with other obvious side effects from treatment. It's hard to say, but the reality of this will take a toll on her entire body in many ways, including her heart (SO BIG), organs, and the obvious outside look. We both have changed our diet to KETO to help slow down the cancer. Cancer feeds off Sugar, Alcohol, and Hormones in your body the most as we have found out from her doctors. Erin's immune system is also compromised as well during treatment, so she wears a mask in crowded areas and other types of places that have a tone of germs and bacteria. Fresh flowers carry bacteria as well so she can't be around them as well. So far, she is holding on and still being the woman she was born to be. She won't quit, she rarely complains, has a strong positive attitude, and will never show her weakness (except to me) on occasion Haha.
- We had our wedding planned for 8/9/25 for family and friends with save-the-dates sent out a year ago. When we found out the news, that was something we needed to change. We eloped privately with our kids by our sides on 12/14/24. Yes, the Wonderful Run weekend here in Seneca Falls. A time we all get together and enjoy the event with friends and family. The only thing we regret is not being able to have the wedding we both wanted. Hopefully, we can have a get-together once she conquers this monster.
- We will be running/walking in the Middle Finger 5k this spring of 2025 in Geneva, New York, on Seneca Lake that supports cancer survivors, cancer patients, families, and anyone directly or indirectly affected by someone with cancer. I believe all proceeds go towards the fight against cancer. Erin's team name is "Erin's Breast Friends." Yes, she is that witty! Haha. It is an open team, and we would love to have you aboard! I will put a link in for the Middle Finger 5k Event. Erin's Breast Friends MF5K Team
- GoFundMe tells me to write about myself, which is odd, but here is a short bit. I was born and raised in Geneva, New York. A son to Kimberly Ferrell (Volker) and George Ferrell, who have both passed during the late covid years and also a tragic event with my mother. Unfortunately, not long ago and within 11 months of each other. I'm also a big brother to Elizabeth Jones (Ferrell) & Callie Lindsey (Ferrell). I also have two older brothers, Craig & Chad Ferrell. I am fortunate to have many close family members, dozens of supportive cousins, and an uncle of 3 little ones. I've worked in various careers throughout my life. My biggest and what I'm most proud of accomplishment is from starting my own business that was very successful from the start. Unfortunately, 6 years later it took at tool on my body, and I could no longer perform to my company's standers. I took some time off that was needed after the passing of both my parents and am back working for a local company and in a career, I will no longer need to worry about physical issues again.
- Both Erin and I are independent, hardworking, put-your-mind-to-it-and-get-it-done kind of couple. The hardest thing for us to do is ask for help, and we pretty much only ask for help from each other. If all you can offer is kind words and encouragement, that will get us through. If all you can contribute is prayer, that will get us through. We both know "times are tough" right now because we live it too with you! I have hopes things will come back to normal soon and we can all grow together, rather than apart. (She loves flowers; however, she cannot be around fresh cut flowers due to the bacteria they carry.) Thank you for those who have showed support in that way.
- I will post regular updates and pictures on her page to keep you updated as we fight this together. Every day, every moment, every heartbeat will be cherished as if it were our last.
- We love you, Erin, with everything we have. We will never give up on you, so never give up on us as we cheer you on!
