Hi friends and family,
A lot of you already know what is going on with Steve and have been asking what can be done to help. I am going to set up this go fund me page to help with the finances during this difficult time.
For those of you that don’t know what is going on, Sunday, August 28th, Steve was diagnosed with a subarachnoid hemorrhage. A subarachnoid hemorrhage is a medical emergency that is usually from a bulging blood vessel that bursts in the brain (aneurysm). But in Steve’s case he does not have an aneurysm and the cause is unknown.
On Sunday he was air lifted to St. Anthony’s hospital in Lakewood Colorado and is receiving treatment in the ICU, and he will have to stay in the ICU for the next three to four weeks or longer. As of right now, he is awake and talking and the doctors are very impressed and excited with his progress. From what the ER physicians taking care of Steve told us, the statistics with this type of hemorrhage about 25% die before making it to the hospital, about 30 % don’t wake up after intubation, and 30% have neurological deficits and 15% can walk away with minor problems. He is more neurologically sound than most patients with this type of brain bleed. So this is why the doctors are so impressed and excited! BUT, the next 4-5 are a very critical time, due to the fact that the brain could start to bleed again. None the less, he has a long road to recovery.
Janet is going to be traveling back and forth, staying at a hotel to be close to the hospital. It is uncertain how long Steve will be unable to work for so this would really help them out with this unfortunate event.
If you recall, last year, poor Steve had another medical issue and the go fund me account helped them out so much and were so thankful for everything! I couldn’t think of more deserving people to help in a time of need. I have to say, I am a very lucky person to be able to call him my father-in-law and Janet my mother-in-law. If you have ever met Steve, chances are that you left with a smile on your face. He is one of the funniest, nicest, and hardworking people I have ever met in my whole life. And Janet is truly the sweetest, loving, and understanding woman I have met. I love them both so much!!! They would both do anything for anyone... They also would not be the ones to ask for help when they are in need…..SO, in their time of need I would like to make this page to help them so Steve can fully recover, get back on his feet, and they won't have to stress over any financial burden. Please help in any way that you can.
