At 8am on the Morning of April 16th I fed my healthy baby boy and put him back down for his morning snooze. Sometime while he slept, he was overcome by a virus and pnemonia that left his airways blocked and he woke up unable to breathe. Responding to the sound of which I had just assumed was him waking for the day, I found him post seizure, lethargic and minimally responsive and immediately dialed 911.
Holden spent over a week and a half in the hospital stabilizing, assessing his condition and the extent of his injuries. The injuries to his brain became apparent, with the damage being most specifically to his right occipital lobe and has been diagnosed with a Cortical Visual Impairment. He currently has minimal response to visual stimulation and movement, but is showing signs of improvement everyday.
Holden is currently at Marion Joy Rehabilitation Hospital in Wheaton working with a multitude of therapists in helping him get to where he needs to be to come home!
We are doing everything we possibly can to give Holden all the best oppurtunities to come out of this on top! His road is long, and he will require extended outpatient treatment including a rigorous schedule of Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment to help heal his wounds.
Insurance coverage has limitations, outpatient care, travel expenses, meals away from home, undetermined periods of time off of work and accommodations to care for our 4 young other children, while we submerge ourselves in being as present as possible for Holden, will continue to put some added financial weight on our shoulders.

My purpose and goal was to tell Holdens story and as a mom, be doing everything I can for my family to keep this boat afloat!!! We appreciate everyone's support!
