My dear friend, Melanie, is a loving soul with a heart that beats for her dogs. She decided to breed her sweet French Bulldog, Paisley, as she has an incredible disposition and had a litter once before. Everyone who has one of these puppies knows they were cared for since conception. Melanie is an educated, dog savvy woman who knows all about the breed, belongs to the NE Boston Terrier Rescue (her other favorite breed!), takes in fosters, and at this time has an elderly foster for life. She monitored this pregnancy from day one and took exceptional care of Paisley. When the pregnancy reached 63 days, she worried the puppies had not yet come and brought mama to the vet. After tests were taken, she was reassured mama and puppies were fine and she could go at any time. This morning she awoke to find Paisley had an off color discharge and immediately brought her to the vet. It just happened to be a Sunday so she had to go to an emergency vet hospital. The vets did an ultrasound and X-Ray and found there was a puppy stuck in the birth canal and they could not find a heartbeat in 3 other puppies. They told Melanie they had to run tests before doing an emergency C-Section. The vet waited over 3 hours for the test results before operating. Sadly, by the time they did, all of the puppies had passed. To make matters worse, the uterus was hemorrhaging and had to be removed for Paisley's safety. The total vet bill is $1,997. 99 and Melanie is struggling to find the funds to cover the expense. Her heart is broken over the loss of the puppies and the trauma Paisley has gone through.
