My name is Brenda and I live with a devastating condition called Peripheral Neuropathy. I started this GoFundMe campaign asking for help to purchase car modifications so I can drive! Initially, the focus was on "freedom" to drive to be able to see my beautiful daughters within the state. Hurricane Matthew was a rude awakening for me.
Hearing the constant news on how catastrophic the hit will be to Central Florida. Warnings said LEAVE and everyone was rushing to pack up and evacuate... not me! I have never felt so helpless knowing my home was by the river AND the ocean yet I couldn't grab my 2 dogs and drive inland. Don't get me wrong, I have wonderful friends and was offered to come stay with them... unfortunately my ability to drive especially on the interstate is unfathomable. So the offers to drive to Tampa, Gainesville or SC were impossible yet I realized how little my friends and sister understood the severity of my condition. I truly was scared that I was trapped and felt so helpless!
This horrible "invisible illness" affects so many people yet if you are not a victim, you truly will not understand my frustration and limitations.
If you have or know someone that has any form of neuropathy, please give them your love and support. Trust me when I say that they are hurting more than you could imagine.
