Sleep Apnea Fund for Turaki

Donation protected
My name is Casey and I work for a sleeping and breathing disorder clinic.
I am desperately seeking help from the public for one of my patients, Turaki Junior Turaki.
Turaki was diagnosed with Very Severe Sleep Apnea which means he stops breathing 117 times per hour, that’s over 800 times every night that he stops breathing.

He is my patient and my friend and he is at extreme risk of one day not waking up because his body cannot survive anymore. His condition is so severe that he cannot get clearance from his doctor to return to work so he cannot afford the APAP machine required for the therapy that can save his life. Turaki has already lost a family member to sleep apnea and he is scared.

It breaks my heart when I have the capability to help someone and improve their life dramatically, I just dont have the money to do so. I am trying as hard as I can to help him so now I am reaching out to the public for their generosity. If I can raise $1793.00, this will allow my patient to start treatment, own his own machine and he will be able to live a longer and healthier life.
He needs an Adaptive Positive Airway Pressure machine that will push air into his airways at night so he can breathe. His body needs that assistance to be able to finally have some proper rest, allowing his body to rest, regenerate and grow like it's supposed to. The longer he goes without this machine, the more likely his chances of dying.

Sleep apnea is caused by the relaxed muscle tissue in the airways collapsing to the back of the throat blocking all air reaching the lungs. Red blood cells cannot absorb oxygen if there is no air reaching the lungs, this creates in a sense 'stale' blood being carried throughout the body. Muscles will spasm from lack of oxygen, the heart will have to work overtime to pump twice as much blood with what little oxygen it already has and when the heart is working overtime for so many years, it will put extreme stress on the heart and each day the chances of having a heart attack or stroke increases.
His poor brain doesn’t get the oxygen it needs either and this causes poor memory, headaches, seizures, insomnia and one day it will turn on a defence mechanism where it just eventually wont sleep at all.

If you have a family member or friend that suffers from sleep apnea, you can understand how worrying this can be. My own father has sleep apnea and it is a hereditary condition. I didn't understand why my Dad was angry all the time or why he would fall asleep everywhere and anywhere, at parties, in public and sometimes even driving, but now that I have learnt about sleeping disorders, it all makes sense.
If you know anyone who snores or feels drained everyday and doesnt know why, these are clear signs that they may be suffering from sleep apnea. Its more common than you think.
I will forever be greatful for any help and support. Its not for myself, its for a person that came to me for help. Please help me help him!
