Last week my brother Jeff, his wife Jessica and their 12 year old daughter Emily lost their home in the Louisiana flood. They were shocked because in all the years they've lived there, its never flooded. They put their goats and chickens on the highest ground possible because farm animals aren't allowed  in the evacuation boats and vehicles .  A  while later they were rescued and evacuated. Their house is destroyed as well as most of  their furniture and personal belongings. One of their vehicles was also ruined. They had a small farm of pygmy goats and chickens whom are loved dearly by them and were fortunately  saved by a kind soul.  They've been lucky enough to have been taken in by friends instead of a shelter.  it will be many, many  months or longer   before they'll have their home back with their animals.
