Stage 4 Colon Cancer Family Of 5

Dear family, friends, and community. In the recent months my family has gone through some difficult times. I grew up in the old fashion language of “closed mouths don’t get fed,” and I now realize I have to swallow my pride and seek help for my family. In 2001 I met my husband, Rico. We were both working in a nursing home and I was a single mom of two at the time. Since the very beginning of our relationship he has fathered my children like they are his own. After a few years of dating we had our own miracle baby, Julie. She’s our miracle because my tubes were cut and burned and the doctor had previously told me “no money in the world will ever help you get pregnant" after my first two. However, she’s here and healthy! In 2010 Rico and I tied the knot. We bought a home and worked hard to give our girls the best life we could offer. Sometimes life has a way of giving a difficult path to take no matter how hard you work to make things easy for yourself. In May 2016 my husband started having pain in his stomach and we were unsure why. The first few doctor visits were all misdiagnosis of lactose intolerant, crohn’s disease, and confusion from doctors. Eventually the doctor spotted a tumor in his stomach and suggested that we schedule an immediate surgery to remove the tumor. Following the surgery we received the unfortunate news that they couldn’t remove the tumor and that he was battling with stage 3-4 of sigmoid colon cancer. A few days followed and he wasn’t recovering well, so they had to go in and adjust somethings. Once again, he struggled with his recovery to a point that we didn’t know if he was going to make it through the following weekend. He had lost 87lbs in a matter of two weeks, and the hospital couldn’t give a clear understanding of why anything was happening. We felt doomed, and a little helpless. With the help of family we switched his hospital to get a different opinion. He is now at froedert hospital and after more testing he has stage 4 colon cancer which has spread to his liver and intensitin walls. . After missing a few weeks of work, my boss laid me off because he felt I wasn’t capable of doing my job due to emotional stress. At this moment that puts both me and my husband out of work and no income. with three girls to take care of and a sick husband. I’m seeking help from you all so that I can continue to provide for my family in every way. I do appreciate all that you could do and the prayers you continue to make for my family.clear understanding from the new doctors have me more afraid as a mother and wife that my husband Rico is not going to make it long He is now home, and awaiting his start of chemo therapy.I have my own downfall. with three girls to take care of and a sick husband. I’m seeking help from you all so that I can continue to provide for my family in every way. I do appreciate all that you could do and the prayers you continue to make for my family. With 3 kids and school starting medical bills piling up is the only reason I am setting my pride aside and asking for help. Any donation that is made will be greatly appreciated and will only go for the well being of my family thank you all in advance for your support.Charissa Rodriguez
