Autumn’s Liver Transplant
Autumn was admitted to the hospital in July 2020 at 8 weeks old for high bilirubin counts. After two weeks, IV antibiotics for a liver infection, and multiple tests/procedures no one so young should have to endure, the doctors could still not diagnose what was causing her liver to not function properly.
Our family spent August through the beginning of October hoping her liver problems would resolve themselves as she grew. On October 13 after stalling in her weight gain and her skin getting noticeably more yellow she was referred for a liver transplant.
After bloodwork revealed her total bilirubin counts had shot up to over 20 and her INR was at an unsafe range she was hospitalized again and treated for another liver infection with more IV antibiotics then given a PICC line and sent home for her parents to continue the medicine.
Since then she has had two more ER visits and another 6 day hospital stay. On November 4 she was officially listed on the national transplant registry.
Due to her intense care right now and the caretaking she will need post-transplant her mom, Lauryn, has stepped down from her job as a teacher to devote all her energy to Autumn’s care. They are now solely reliant on her father, Aaron’s, income. He is a high school English teacher as well.
This fund is to help support Autumn and her family as they brave the unknown to save her life. Thank you for offering tangible support as they face many hospital bills while trying to support a family of 3 on one teacher’s salary.
Thank you to all of the friends and family who have been so generous with their words of encouragement, positive thoughts, and prayers.
Much love always.
