Housey's Emergency Eye Surgery

Housey had to have a completely unexpected emergency surgery on his left eye about a week ago (Monday 8-15) . He was in a lot of pain and had a deep, rather large ulcer in his left eye likely the combination of the feline herpes he has struggled with and possibly a scratch that was missed by our regular vet due to its location under the third eyelid. The ophthalmologist recommended emergent surgery with a price tag of $2200-2700 depending on the severity of what she found once he was under anesthesia and could see better. The only other option because of the location and depth of the ulceration was to remove his eye but this was not recommended because of the fact that he has the feline herpes virus in BOTH eyes making them both more susceptible to ulceration. We love this baby boy more than anything so we opted to proceed with the ophthalmologist's recommended course of treatment to give him the best chance at continuing to have his vision, but we are now faced with a $2631.62 bill and unfortunately we don't have that kind of money laying around. Several of Housey's long-time followers on Instagram and family have asked about donating via this website so we decided to go ahead and make one.
