As parents, we rely on some really special people to help lay strong foundations of Love and Faith in our children from a really young age. These special people have a lasting effect on our kids and the fruits of what they helped plant in children become more and more obvious the older they get. If you live in Fountain Hills and you have children under the age of 18, it’s very likely you and your children know who “Miss Beth” is. Maybe it’s from Promise Land Preschool, a VBS or kids event at Christ Church or a summer camp through the Kiwanis Club. Miss Beth has poured love into our kids for many years and they still remember who she is even as they skip off to college!
Lately Beth has been at her son Justin’s bedside as he has been fighting for his life in the ICU at Honor Health in Scottsdale. Roughly 3 weeks ago, Justin was diagnosed with SEPSIS after suffering from what appears to be a ruptured appendix and possibly an undiagnosed condition with his colon. After 2 weeks in the ICU, Justin is making progress, his body is beginning to function and he’s been moved into a regular room, out of the ICU. Praise God!!
So, here is where we come in. To everyone who continues to pray for Justin and Beth, please know that God is hearing you!!! Justin is getting better and Beth is continuing to stay emotionally and physically strong for Justin. First and foremost, please keep praying. Second, we need to do whatever we can to allow Beth the ability to focus solely on Justin as he continues to heal. Justin needs his mom to help him as he heals. He will have follow up appointments, therapy visits, as well as continuing physical and emotional health management. Once Justin comes home from the hospital, Beth will be his main source of hands on care.
There is nothing more beautiful than a mother’s love for her child.
According to the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) the definition of SEPSIS: the body’s overwhelming and life-threatening response to infection which can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death. It is difficult to predict, diagnose, and treat. Patients who develop sepsis have an increased risk of complications and death and face higher healthcare costs and longer treatment.
