For the past nine months (since June 2025) , our family’s life has been turned upside down in ways we never could have imagined.
In June, our mother underwent a liver transplant—a procedure we hoped would give her a second chance at life. While the transplant itself was successful, the journey that followed has been incredibly difficult. She experienced severe complications that led to multiple additional surgeries and seven rounds of stent placements in her bile duct. Despite every effort, the treatments did not work, and she ultimately had to undergo a major open surgery known as a Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy, connecting her liver directly to her small intestine.
Since then, she has spent more than four out of the last nine months in hospitals and rehabilitation facilities. Even now, she remains extremely weak and is unable to walk or move on her own, despite ongoing physical therapy. Her recovery is slow, uncertain, and requires constant care.
She is also still battling serious medical challenges. She has multiple deep, open wounds that require ongoing treatment and careful monitoring. In addition, she has suffered from repeated bacterial infections, including E. coli and MRSA, which have further complicated her recovery and made her condition even more fragile. Because she must take immunosuppressive medications to prevent her body from rejecting her transplanted liver, her immune system is weakened—making her far more vulnerable to infections and significantly slowing the healing process.
Her daughter—a single mother and the primary provider for a family of four—has taken on the role of full-time caregiver. She has been by her mother’s side 24/7, both at home and in the hospital, providing the support her mother needs just to get through each day. This has meant stepping away from full-time work, creating immense financial strain on the family.
Their living situation has only made things harder. They live in a second-floor apartment with no elevator, making it extremely difficult and physically exhausting to transport her mother to and from medical appointments. Moving to a more accessible home is simply not financially possible right now.
Sleep has become a luxury. Her daughter wakes up at least twice every hour throughout the night to assist her mother—helping her adjust, managing discomfort, and ensuring her safety. This has been their reality for months: constant care, exhaustion, and worry, all while trying to hold their family together.
Despite everything, they continue to fight with strength, love, and resilience. But they cannot do this alone anymore.
We are asking for your support to help ease the overwhelming financial burden—medical expenses, daily living costs, wound care, infection treatments, and the possibility of moving to a safer, more accessible home. Your generosity will give this family a chance to breathe, to rest, and to focus on what matters most: healing and being together.
Any contribution, no matter the size, will make a meaningful difference. And if you’re unable to give, sharing this story would mean just as much.
Thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
