United Saints LA. Flood Relief Fund

Donation protected
Hello this is Daryl Kiesow the director of United Saints Recovery Project.  We’re raising funds to support our disaster relief effort in flood affected areas of Louisiana.

So far, we've deployed over 400 volunteers to muck and gut flooded houses.  The work is hard and messy but our volunteers have been amazing.  We’ve been going out weekdays, weekends and putting in some long hours because time is of the essence at this stage in the recovery process. The faster we can remove wet materials from a house, the better we can fight mold contamination and help people salvage their homes for future rehabilitation.

Your donations are already at work.  We’ve used them to buy shovels, flat bars, hammers, trash cans, air movers and, most importantly, respirator masks to protect our volunteers from the effects of black mold.  Mold is rampant after a flood and poses a serious health hazard.

As you can imagine, the homeowners we work with are pretty overwhelmed.  I’ve been very moved by the way our volunteers have connected personally and emotionally to the people we serve.  There’s been a lot of warmth and hugs at the end of the day.  It’s often hard to say goodbye knowing what a tough road our homeowners have ahead of them.

Fortunately, United Saints is a rebuilding organization as well providing immediate disaster relief.   We’ve been helping homeowners recover from storms and flooding since Hurricane Katrina and we have tremendous experience repairing homes that have been damaged in this way.

So, as we continue to push forward with the mucking and gutting, we’re already looking forward to the next stages of recovery which include installing new drywall, flooring, cabinetry etc…  Most importantly, we’re looking forward to getting people back in their homes so they return to a sense of normalcy in their daily lives.

That’s what it’s about for us and it’s your donations that make it possible.  Every dollar donated to our Flood Relief Fund is appreciated as a message of hope to people who have suffered from the recent flood.  Thank you again for your generosity.
