Georgina Barba 2nd Transplant Fund

Donation protected

Fifteen years ago, our dear sister Georgina, at the tender age of 18 years old received her first liver transplant due to liver failure caused by an unexpected allergic reaction to an antibiotic prescribed for a cold. This was very devastating news for the family as she was the youngest of 5 daughters.   Our family is very close being that we are of Mexican descent.  She ended up hospitalized for a duration of 3 months in which she   never was left alone.  (Picture below after transplant)

With her transplanted liver, she was able to live a semi-normal life. She got married and was able to have kids.  The older being a daughter who is currently 6 yrs old and a set of twins a boy and a girl now the age of 3.  Until last year,  Georgina  began to struggle with health problems and her daughter Giuliana (one of the twins) unexpectedly fell ill with similar liver and kidney problems.  After several tests conducted, her daughter was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder which Georgina does not have.  Her liver issues are unrelated to her daughter's.  Georgina's daughter was also placed on a liver transplant list.

Georgina is now 33 years old and her health has rapidly deteriorated to the point of no longer being the independent person she was.  She's had several back-to-back hospitalizations to the point that she can no longer care for her children or care for herself.   Our Family and her In-Laws have helped as best as we can.  By suggestion of her Hepatologist at UCLA Westwood, she decided to try to transfer her case to the State of Kansas to possibly receive an organ quicker.  In the trip to Kansas, originally intended to be only a week to have her case evaluated, her health took a bad turn and was then admitted to the University of Kansas Hospital.   Therefore, requiring her to stay in Kansas indefinitely, until she is actively placed on the transplant list and the transplant takes place.  Given her MELD score, doctors state that the transplant can occur at any moment.
Her children were left behind as the trip was planned to be a short one.  Given the circumstances, it has accelerated the plan to relocate the family to Kansas in much shorter period of time.  This has also forced her husband Froy to take a Family Medical Leave without pay to help care for Georgina.

This is where we need your help.  We kindly ask for your generous support for her in order to assist in relocation of the family and assistance with paying for housing, hospital bills and medications, as her husband will not have any income during this time.

Any donation is welcome and would be extremely helpful and greatly appreciated.  We thank you all in advance from the bottom of our hearts for your generous support.

May God Bless You All!
