Help Jolene finish her last year!

We created this page in collaboration with our friend and classmate Jolene Wells. Jolene would have been a senior this year alongside the rest of the 2017 Earlham college class. However, due to not only an increase in tuition, but also an unexpected cut in her financial aid package, she will be unable to return and finish her final year--unless we decide to change that!
Jolene is a passionate Neuroscience major with 4 required classes remaining in order for her to complete her degree. She just came back from a semester abroad in Tanzania, where she did research in biology. She is an incredibly hard-working student with an impressive academic record.
In addition to exelling in her academics, Jolene has been an active member at Earlham. In fact, she has been a passionate participant in both club and varsity athletics. She played varsity volleyball for two years, and is now a member of the women's rugby team at Earlham.
Despite being talented, committed and passionate, Jolene has been facing financial hardships that are putting her studies in jeopardy. As many of you are aware, Jolene has overcome an obstacle after another to earn her education--which stands as significant in the overall context we live in. Needless to say, we live in a world that constantly continues to marginalize women of color (especially in sciences) and the LGBTQ community. Jolene's commitment to her education, her passion for sports, her awareness of the heavy weight that this world places on her shoulders have inspired me, and us, to help her get through this one more obstacle until she successfully finishes her degree. To put it clearly: an investment in Jolene's education is an investment in a person who will contribute to creating a better future.
So, to explain the financial situation: Jolene is $8,000 overdue. Classes start in less than a week, so if we can get this together on time, then Jolene will be able to attend classes this semester! Our goal is to raise $8,000. Please let's come together in order for our friend to be able to finish her education! A dollar counts, because it is not only that, but it is also a thought of support and appreciation of all that Jolene has to offer to Earlham and this world.
