Dear Everyone,

My name is Bernadette Grondin and I want to tell you the story of Allan White, the father of a friend of mine. It is for his memory and for his loving wife and daughter who he left behind that I am opening this GoFundMe endeavour.

Allan White passed away on August 5, 2016, at 11:30am after a brutal struggle against cancer, which had plagued him since February.

The doctors had discovered his melanoma in 2011 and thought they had all but removed it, before discovering it again in February where it had moved to his torso, where it eventually took his life.

While alive, Allan worked tirelessly to care for his family: Kathy, his wife, and Emma, his daughter. Along with his cancer, he had broke nhis back, which was treated but caused him considerable pain ever after. His wife Kathy was unable to work herself to provide a second income due to physical disabilities, which the government refused to provide disability pay for. However, despite all these struggles, Allan never stopped working to ensure his family was able to get by. Allan worked as a truck driver instructor before being let off; after that, he worked as a truck driver for Maurice Transportation until his death.

Despite his hard work, Allan has hardly been shown any goodwill after his passing. The company he worked for denied Kathy and Emma any life insurance, claiming that Allan didn't work long enough for them to qualify for it. They also neglected to inform the family of any information before this point that would have helped them to obtain some insurance, knowing that Allan was constantly at death's door with his cancer. Allan's funeral cost $20,000 and the rent of their home is $1,000.  Without life insurance and with Kathy being unable to work, the White's are left with nothing. His daughter Emma was intending to enter her second year of university this Fall, but is struggling as to whether to attend or put all of her university funds into keeping her mother and herself fed and with a roof above their head.

All the money from this GoFundMe petition will go directly to the White's for the cost of covering Allan's funeral and helping the family in any way to establish some sort of security. The sooner the money can be accumulated, the better. 

Emma is a friend of mine and my heart goes out to her both in this time of horrible pain, but also because of all the injustice her family is facing. Cancer is a real battle that our society is constantly fighting, and one which hurts so many families; to let the White's be beaten by it so severely that they are left destitute is unthinkable. I beg everyone to contribute what they can to this cause to show that we are strong and that we do not let cancer win, no matter what. Kathy and Emma need our help, and we can make a difference. Every dollar is appreciated more than you can even imagine.
