Walker Family Home Flood Repairs

My name is Alli Sims and I am from Baton Rouge, La.  Although we have not gotten much national coverage this has been far worse that Hurricane Katrina, which most people remember.  My house thankfully was not touched but my best friend since I was born and her family were.  This is the person other than my parents that I have shared all my life memories with over the last 35 years.  As I just drove home from seeing the devistation of my best friends house that just flooded in the terrible Louisiana flood my heart is broken into a million pieces.  Everything they have worked so hard for is gone.  They were not in a flood zone so they have no flood insurance meaning they will have to pay out of pocket for everything that needs to be fixed (new floors, sheetrock, cabinets etc.  Being a young family with 3 children they, of course, dont have extra money to do this.  I feel so helpless seeing them so overwhelmed and although setting up an account like this is something I have never thought to do, I am hoping that it spreads to friends and friends of friends out of the state that dont have friends or family directly affected.  Every litte bit helps and giving back is so important.  Please try to imagine yourself in their shoes and we are grateful for any support.
