ASPIRE - Chicken Coop
Donation protected
When the four of us were in year 10, we participated in a World Challenge trip to Cambodia and Vietnam with a group of students from our school. As part of this trip, we visited ASPIRE Cambodia, an orphanage and school for disadvantaged children with no where else to go.
We were so moved by our time at ASPIRE that we decided to return as part of our backpacking experience this summer. Over Christmas, we are spending 5 days as a group with the children of ASPIRE, teaching and interacting with the children and hopefully completing a project to provide the centre with food and an income long after our departure.
However, in order to achieve our manifold goals, we desperately need your assistance!
Our goal is to install a chicken coop in some unused land on the orphanage. Firstly, this will provide the children and their leaders with food on a day to day basis. Secondly, it will hopefully provide an income, through trade in the marketplace. For an NGO with no governmental support, food and income are the most vital of provisions.
Installing a chicken coop has many steps, a couple of which we have already achieved.
1) Level the ground where the coop will be placed - $1,050USD. **ACHIEVED (through generous donations from other volunteers and our own finances).
2) Brick fences for two sides - $0. Bricks are already at the orphanage and manual labour by volunteers is all that's needed for this step.
3) Brick/wire fences for two sides - $1,940USD.
4) Installation of chicken coop (including labour and materials) - $500USD approx. (PLUS $325 for new roof).
5) New well for children (as original one is within area intended for coop) - $120.
6) Two gates - $275USD each.
These are the main costs, but small costs are associated with every stage that would bore you!
The orphanage is really important to all of us. We are in no doubt that everyone reading this already participates in some form of humanitarian work, but to us this cause is unique. Not only is this an incredible cause and one in desperate need of support, but we are also able to guarantee that the money you donate is gong directly into the cause - there are no admin costs as are associated with larger charities.
ASPIRE recieves no government support and relies purely on the assistance from people like you. Furthermore, the support that ASPIRE recieved from World Challenge has recently been withdrawn, making ASPIRE more desperate than ever.
Thank you in advance for your support, it is appreciated more than you could imagine.
