Hi, this is Rob. I am reaching out for help which is very difficult and embarassing for me to do. January 2015, I was diagnosed with Hepatitis C and liver cancer. A cancerous tumor was found in the lower right lobe of my liver. Ironically, I had not shown any signs of illness and the cancer had not spread to other areas. The fine doctors at the University of Colorado Hospital in Denver started treatments immediately. Within 12 weeks, I was cured of Hepatitis C using a very expensive drug called Harvoni. By September 2015, the tumor was pronounced dead after chemotherapy, radiation and microwave ablation treatments. This was all wonderful news. The bad news was that my primary doctor said that the only way to be certain that the cancer won't reappear is with a liver transplant. I need to lose some more weight before they can do the surgery, which is expected in the next 6 - 12 months. In the meantime, I will keep up with my quarterly CT Scans and blood work to monitor any reappearance of cancer.

My income dropped dramatically during treatment being on 100% commission and in August 2015, I lost my position with my firm altogether. It has been a financial battle ever since. The medical bills have been piling up as well as just our normal bills. Pattie was just notified that the contract she has been working under at Peterson AFB Family Health Clinic will not be extended past Sept. 30. Her hard work has provided the majority of our income for the last year. We have no doubt that she will find another position, it's just when. My job hunt continues.

Bottomline is that I am asking for help in paying off $17,540 of bills. This will get us back to even so that we can start preparing for the transplant expenses. The savings and retirement plans have already been depleted. Donations of any amount will be appreciated more than you know, as well as positive thoughts and prayers. Either way, we will keep up the fight.
