Update:
Where do I begin?  We brought Brody to Boston in August to have a posterior tracheopexy that would stabilize his floppy trachea. While the procedure itself went well and Brody's team of doctors feel the trachea is now stable and will not collapse anymore, the surgery came with a complication. 

Prior to coming to Boston Brody was able to eat basically what we ate, only cut into super small pieces...think pea to marble size. He would have episodes of choking and would require the Heimlich maneuver and sometimes a trip to the OR to have the food removed with a scope.  He did not have any narrow or tight areas and the doctors felt that the trachea collapsing was the reason Brody choked so much. 

Since the surgery Brody has had issues with choking because the surgery created a narrowing in his esophagus. He was discharged from the inpatient side of the hospital but has to return weekly to outpatient surgery to have his esophagus stretched. This week will be week 7 of dilations and we don't know how many more it is going to take. 

In spite of everything Brody continues to be full of energy and happy. He has lost a little over 2 pounds and this is concerning. 

I have started a job here in Massachusetts and Mike remains on FMLA (he is out of paid time off but at least his job is protected!) so that someone can always be with Brody.  Brady, Harrison and Cameron are in SC with Momma and Aunt Penny.

As you know Brody is in Boston for his surgery to repair the floppy trachea. This surgery is currently only performed at Boston Children's Hospital. We made it here and Brody is doing remarkable after his surgery. He will remain in the hospital for a while longer though to ensure his airway heals properly. While all of his needs are tended to because he is a patient, we are purchasing meals and gas to travel to and from the hospital. We are grateful for any donation received.
