House Fire on Plum Island
Donation protected
While I was in Cooperstown watching my son's baseball tournament over the weekend I was informed by a colleague that one of our co-workers' house caught fire Sunday evening on Plum Island. Most of the building was heavily damaged including the side Liz is living on.
So, needless to say, Liz will be out for a few days as they try to assess what may be salvageable and figure out their next step. At this point they will be looking for alternative housing while they await the determination if the building can be saved.
She is staying with friends on Plum Island right now. The good thing is that nobody was hurt, but all the furniture, rugs, desks, lamps appliances, kitchen items were destroyed etc. Liz's daughter is heading back to school in two weeks and as expected Liz wants to get their new rental furnished and their lives back in order.
As a mother of three living in a farmhouse built in 1790 I could not imagine the devastation and displacement caused by a fire.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated as they relocate and start over. Thank you so much!!!
