Lee Brierly's Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hi friends and family!
My sister Lee Brierly has been through three back surgeries within the past 18 months. Lee has only been able to work for six months out of the past 18 months she has been out of work since January 2016. Lee has Idiopathic Roto Scoliosis, meaning she was not born with it, it developed when she was an adult. Two surgeries have failed to relieve or correct the scoliosis and she has been suffering tremendous pain since the second surgery; a lumbar fusion of which she just had in February 2016.
Lee developed a dropped foot and other complications from the lumbar surgery and it was decided that she needed to have a complete spinal reconstruction. Lee had her third surgery on Wednesday, August 23, 2016. She is in a step down unit in the hospital, she can't walk unassisted and has a huge hurdle to jump. Today she needed a blood transfusion; she needed two units/bags of blood. Her color looks much better today, yesterday her hands were white..pale white. It has been a very scary thing for Lee, myself and her loved ones.
When Lee is released she will not be able to go home! She will have to go into a facility that specializes in getting her up and on her feet so that she can go home to her daughter, beloved dogs and house and to gain back her independence.
It is at this time that I ask you, friends and family if there is anything that you could contribute to this fund raiser so that she doesn't have the worry of losing her house or paying her bills. No donation is too small! I can tell you that Lee would be grateful and would pay it forward in a heart beat.
Lee is a Corrections Officer and has been employed for the past eleven years at the ACI. Lee was also on the CERT Team, she is trained to repel off of buildings in the event of an incident. Lee has helped so many people with her sweet personality and her desire to help the less fortunate.
My sister has run 2 full marathons for the Dana Farber Cancer Research and many other half marathons, 10 k's & 5 K runs and all that was done from her heart and for the cause. She is also a volunteer at Friends Way, in Warwick. So please, if you can help us out in any way, we will be forever grateful!
Thank you in advance!
