Scruff McRuff (A213945) is a stray dog that came in to Collier County Domestic Animal Services in Naples, FL on August 5th, 2016 as a stray. He was found by one of their Animal Control Officers and was badly injured.
Scruff's wounds indicated he was severely attacked by a larger dog and on top of that he was hit by a car. He was found lying under a truck, in shock and clinging to life. Upon examining Scruff, the veterinary clinic he originally was taken to recommended euthanasia. Collier County Domestic Animal Services felt, however, that he deserved a chance. In addition to his visible wounds, he has 2 broken ribs and pulmonary
contusions . He had surgery to repair the large wound on his neck, but his recovery is expected to take between 8-10 weeks. He is currently in a foster home getting lots of TLC.
His medical bills have climbed to $1,500 and while DAS is trying very hard to cover the amount, it takes a toll on their ability to help other shelter animals that come in with similar illnesses or injuries.
We are looking to help raise money to cover Scruff's medical expenses and possibly replenish the Donation Trust Fund the shelter has set aside to help stray injured or sick animals in their community. The fund has been significantly depleted with Scruff's medical situation.
Every little bit helps and will go towards the care of sick and injured animals at Collier County Domestic Animal Services.
