Darla & Terry Turner 2016 Flood
The flooding in South Louisiana has caused so much devastation, it is hard to wrap the mind around. So many people have lost everything, my parents included. Where do you go when your home is no longer inhabitable, when your clothes, vehicles, appliances, everything you have worked so hard for your whole life is ruined?!? You turn to family and friends and you start rebuilding. You seek assistance from any source you can think of, you rely on your fortitude and start the process of starting over, one soggy piece of sheetrock at a time. For my parents, at 65 and 66 years old (and disabled), it is an overwhelming realization that the life you have built through the years has been reduced to the clothes on your back. As their daughter is is heartbreaking to know that I cannot take them into my safe embrace and make everything better, the way they did for my sister and I all of these years. All we can do is move forward together, in whatever way and by any means possible.
Any money donated would be used to start the rebuild of the house that my parents have lived in for over 40 years. The needs must be prioritized and this is number 1! Clean up, trash removal, mold removal, rewiring, HVAC system, insulation, sheetrock, flooring, appliances, the list goes on and on.
The process will be both long winded and immediate. Any funds collected will be used to start and continue the rebuilding process.
We thank you, our family thanks you, Louisiana thanks you - Our gratitude is limitless!! Down the road, when this is all said and done, we will not forget those who reached out and helped in our time of need.
Sincerely, The Turner Family
