Thomas & Sam's UHaul Stolen in Cali
Our son, Thomas, and his new wife, Sam, recently decided to start a new adventure in California where each has a new job. They loaded all their possessions in a U-Haul trailer and headed for Sacramento, arriving on Friday, August 12. After spending Saturday house hunting, they spent the night in a hotel. Imagine their shock the next morning when they looked out and saw that the U-Haul was missing even though it had been hitched to their car. Stolen during the night with all of their worldly possessions. The police took their report but didn’t give them much hope. They are devastated. They had purchased U-Haul insurance which covered the trailer, but not the contents. Car insurance does not cover contents either. And moving into a new home, they did not have renters’ insurance yet.
We are hoping to raise money to help them replace the things that were stolen. The list of items missing include all their kitchen appliances, dishes, pots and pans, knives, stainless silverware, clothing, books, camping and climbing gear, bicycles, TV, sofa and other furniture, among everything else you would need to set up a house. They also lost their treasured wedding trunk which held many notes written to them by the wedding guests for them to read on their anniversaries to come. It feels the same as if a fire had burned down their house. Thomas and Sam are two proud, very hard-working, young people with a dream, and need a helping hand to get back on their feet. Whatever you are able to pledge or encouraging words that you can share, will mean a lot to them.
Thank you,
Susan & David Briley (Thomas’s parents)
