Hello my name is Mrs. Angela Showers-Lloyd and I am the owner of the Hammond Boys & Girls Center which is a non profit organization that is 501c3 approved. The Boys & Girls Center is located at 12561 Wardline Road in Hammond, LA. I have been teaching special education for over 12 years in the Tangipahoa School System, and I work with Gloss Enterprise as a direct service worker for individuals that have disabilities. My past experience include: Walls & Brooks Youth Development organization (2010-2012), Hammond Boys & Girls Club (1996 until it closed down in July 2009), Daggs Reid after school homework assistance, Hammond High School Torette Sponsor (2005 until 2015). My education include: a Bachelor's Degree from Southeastern Louisiana University and a Master's Degree from Ashford University. I wanted to bring the Boys & Girls Center back to the Hammond area so that our youth will have a positive place to attend for after school homework assistance, recreation and other fun activities.
I am raising money to help my organization with materials needed for inside and outside the center such as: a computer lab, arts & crafts materials, educational supplies, indoor and outdoor games, outside fence so that the center can be separated from both stores located on each side of the center as well as to separate the wooded area located behind the center.
The money received will be used to purchase supplies and materials needed on the inside and outside of the center, to assist with field trips, after school snacks, as well as to assist with hiring at least two part time workers. Presently, we do not have a stove, refrigerator or a variety of games on the inside and outside of the center for the youth to enjoy. All funding and renovations for the center thus far have come from my very own personal funds. Therefore, all funds recieved will help the Hammond Boys & Girls Center better serve the youth within the Tangipahoa Parish and other surrounding areas.
Funding the Hammond Boys & Girls Center is needed now, but even more so before summer camp starts in June. The Hammond Boys & Girls Center will accept any donations, games or other materials. Anything given to help the youth will be greatly appreciated. This will mean the world to me because I know that we have individuals and business owners that care about the well being of all youth and to have a positive place for them to be apart of throughout the year.
