Mercer Flood Disaster Repair
Donation protected
My name is Lindsay.
I live in Denham Springs, Louisiana. I have lived here all my life with my mother, Michelle, step-father, Eric, and my grandmother, Ollie. My brother, Josh, has recently married and moved to Lafayette. We have three dogs, Louie, Scrimmage, and James.
Until recently, we had lived a very normal life. I teach first grade in Denham Springs at Southside Elementary. My usual routine was waking up, going to my classroom, and preparing lessons for my students.
My mother is the Operations Manager at Armstrong Relocation. We share a legacy within the LSU Tiger Band. She is selfless, strong, and encouraging.
Eric loves Star Wars. As a purchaser for Orion Instruments, he goes to work before the sun comes up and comes home to do work around the house.
My grandmother takes care of all things small and furry. She cannot resist a puppy or kitten in need. She takes great pride in taking care of creatures that are unable to take care of themselves.
As many of you know, on August 12th, a terrible flood impacted many of us here in Louisiana. Like many of our neighbors, my family and I entered our home yesterday to see the damage. My brother and I were at a loss for words as we witnessed the destruction found within our childhood home. While we are thankful we are all safe, we cannot help but feel overwhelmed with the knowledge that our keepsakes and treasured items are all but destroyed.
As we continue to process and move forward, we are evaluating the extent of the repairs. It is obvious we will need all new flooring, sheetrock/insulation, appliances, kitchen cabinets, mattresses, bedroom furniture, and little things along the way we haven't even realized as of yet. Since we are not located in a flood zone, we never thought this would happen to us. Like many people in our area, we did not have flood insurance. The money raised will go towards rebuilding our home.
We ask that you please consider donating to our gofundme. Everything raised will go into putting our lives back together. In the near future, we would like to share a follow up video reflecting our contributers' generosity.
Thank you and your continued thoughts and prayers are appreciated.
