Helping Terry Miller Beat Cancer Fund

The story below was written by Rickey and Terry's daughter Tracy.

Terry Miller is an amazing, strong, kindhearted loving woman of God.  She is a mother, wife, meme, sister, friend, daughter, daughter-in-law.  Terry is loved by many. She should never have to battle this awful disease,

However, we know with her faith in GOD and strength she is ready to fight this.

Shortly after Terry was diagnosed Rickey’s company shut the doors and he no longer has a job. This is somewhat a blessing as Rickey has been able to be with Terry and care for her every step of the way.

The Journey is very difficult and there are many unknowns. We know God has all  the healing power and is in total control.

Terry’s journey began 9-1-2018. Her and her husband Rickey spent the weekend in Houston with her brother Jerry. This was Labor Day weekend and the start of stomach pains.

During the following week the pains subsided however, that weekend they came back and were stronger.  Monday morning, we saw the primary care doctor who suspected what we thought as well, the pain was from an inflamed gallbladder.  After lab work and ultra we were sent directly to the surgeon, Dr. Cook, who suggested Terry be admitted that day.

On 9-10-2018 she had surgery to remove the gallbladder. Surgery should have taken 45 minutes at the most but ended up 2 and a half hours instead.  The gallbladder ruptured during surgery so the surgeon left a drain in place for any infection to drain freely.

After 4 days in the hospital Terry was finally released. On 9-21-2018 Terry had a checkup with Dr. Cook.  He removed the staples and asked how she was feeling.

THEN we heard the words that would change our lives forever…..”I am sorry to tell you this, but it is gallbladder cancer”. We, Rickey, Terry and Tracey were all in shock.

We were told this is very rare and a poor diagnosis. We left scared and in tears.  Well then, our faith and determination kicked in. Rickey and Tracey started placing phone calls to get the ball rolling to get rid of this cancer.

On October 2, 2018 we met with Dr. Lauren, Terry’s oncologist. Amazing faithful woman of God who truly cares for her patients and their families discussed different treatment options as well as going to MD Anderson because they might see 100 patients a year compared to 2 or 3 she has seen in the last 5 years.

On 10-8-2018 Terry was admitted to the OLOL for very high enzymes. On 10-9-2018 Terry did an MRI to see what is causing the elevation.  They saw a tumor that is causing a blockage of the ducts allowing bile to flow from the liver as well as an enlarge lymph node. Dr. Anderson place a drain/catheter in the bile duct to allow the bile to drain which came out of Terry’s side. She was sent home with this to make sure the duct would not become blocked.

On 10-15-2018 Terry had her first consultation at MD in Texas. After Pet scan and lab work, the doctor there recommended chemo before surgery to shrink the tumor and cancer cells in the abdomen.

On 10-29-2018 Terry had a port placed for chemo and the drain removed and replaced with a temporary plastic stent.
This was one of the scariest days of our lives. Once home after these procedures Terry lost consciousness for several minutes. We
ended up in ER. Thankfully she was ok. This was a result from a dramatic drop in her blood pressure.

On 10-25-2018 Terry had a breast mammogram and appointment with her breast specialist to check a spot that was found on the PET scan at MD Anderson. Thankfully this appears to be just scar tissue.

On 11-6-2018 Terry had her 1rst chemo treatment. The plan was to do four chemo treatments then repeat a PET scan.

On 12-18-2018 Terry had her 4th chemo. Terry and Rickey had a wonderful blessed Christmas with family.

On 12-26-2018 Terry had her PET scan.

On 1-2-2019 we received the blessings everyone has been praying for and that GOD has taken care of for us. The tumor and lymph node had shrunk in size! This is such a blessing!!

Next is 4 more chemo treatments then repeat PET scan.  At that point Terry should be ready for a consultation with the surgeon to remove the cancer.

Please help support this precious lady and BEATING this cancer.
