On August 13th, Shauna Wetenkamp was in an intersection in San Jose, CA, and was run over by a truck. She was quickly rushed to the hospital to find that she has a broken spine, pelvis, concussion, hemorrhaging in her leg, and a sprained finger. Her pain and wounds have been controlled as much as possible, but she has a long road ahead of her.
The driver had been under the influence of alcohol and due to some extenuating circumstances, his insurance is denying liability. It looks as though it may not cover any of Shauna's injuries.
As of some recent changes, Shauna has no medical insurance, so we are working desperately to help her with her medical bills. The hospital stay, scans, rehabilitation, and care she has had, and will continue to receive, is estimated to exceed $50,000.
Shauna has touched so many people with her enthusiasm for life and learning, we hope to pay her back by easing this burden as much as possible.
