I'm Marilyn Hughes and my family and I have been devasted by the flooding that happened in east Ascension Parish. We live in Saint Amant and I am trying to raise money for myself, my husband, and my son. Water is waste high and everything is floating.
My studio where I did all my creative Mixed Media work is completed flooded too. We have lost almost all the contents of both. Our house was insured, but not the contents or my studio. I'm just asking for funds to get us back on our feet. We will use any money we receive to replace clothing for the 3 of us, our furniture and appliances, and my studio. $20,000 doesn't even come close, but I feel strange asking for more. Since I will be the person in need, I will deposit these funds into my bank account to ONLY be used for the clothing, appliances and furniture, and to replace the contents of my studio. It WILL NOT go to bills, gas, or food.
I will be in need of the money as soon as we can get back in and start cleaning up. We don't know when that will be.
Without help, we truly will be in trouble. That people are willing to help is truly staggering and means so much.
