Steve Reid is 53 years young. His siblings and mother live in Texas and Nevada. Steve lives in Massachusetts with his long time friend and health care advocate Beverly.
November 2013, Steve had cut his lip while shaving. The cut never healed. Although Steve worked very hard for years as a laborer, he did not have health insurance (and wasn't able to afford it) which kept him from seeking medical help.
April 2014 Steve was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma of his lip, which resulted in surgery to have it removed.
November 2015 he was diagnosed with head and neck cancer. Treatment consisted of 7 weeks of daily Radiation as well as Chemotherapy every 3 weeks.
Eight weeks after completion of his invasive therapy, Steve and Bev were once again back at the doctors for a new development. With each new development, the treatment became more invasive.
June 2016, Steve had a neck dissection where they removed tissue from his face and neck, as well as part of his jaw.
August 2016 - Steve once again received devestating news. His Cancer is back - and with a vengeance. It has spread to his lung, lymph nodes and arteries. He begins Chemotherapy again on August 18th for the sole purpose of buying some time...
Until recently, there wasn't a time that you would see Steve without a smile on his face... always so positive.
It is hard to watch what is happening to this kind and caring human.
He is looking at no quality of life. Medical bills, prescriptions, rent and all that goes with sustaining some level of dignity is the ultimate reason to reach out for help. He has started palliative care, which is the last step before hospice begins.
If it's a little, or a lot... anything will help, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Please help Steve, God bless.
