In late September, Stephanie visited the St. Charles School District CareHere Clinic with sharp stomach pains.  They advised her to go the ER to get a CT scan, which she did, assuming nothing out of the "ordinary" was the reason for her pain.  What she found out was that this pain she had been having was not being caused by anything "ordinary" at all, rather, it was being caused by T-Cell Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia (ALL), which she was eventually diagnosed with.  She was admitted to Barnes St. Peters immediately, and then subsequently transferred to "Big" Barnes in St. Louis, where she has remained since.  Her treatment will be lengthy, and will include chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant, and she will remain admitted to Barnes for at least 4-5 weeks minimum.

This awful disease has not only temporarily taken control of Stephanie, it has consumed her family as well.  Stephanie is unable to work at the moment, and Dan's (her husband) business - Dan-O's Pizza - is going to take a reduction in revenue as Dan tends not only to the needs of his wife, but also to the needs of their daughter Molly, who is battling Cystic Fibrosis and needs constant attention to medications, as well as the day to day responsibilities of normal life with both Molly and her older brother, Nick.

Prior to this, the Moran Family was and is dealing with a mold issue in their kitchen (caused by a slow leaking dishwasher), requiring the replacing of much of their flooring and cabinetry.  While a slight mold problem may not be of much concern to many, with Molly's CF, it is something that has to be isolated and mitigated with no exception.  So on top of Stephanie's leukemia and Molly's CF, they also have to worry about fixing the kitchen issues so that Molly doesn't have any resulting issues from it.

All of these things have put a strain on the Moran Family and their finances, and it would be great to be able to provide some financial support for them in their time of need to take that stress off of them.  Specifically, the Moran Family could use your help in paying for medical costs related to chemo, as well as other treatments she will need.  They will need to cover medical expenses not only for Stephanie, but for Molly as well, so any help would be appreciated.

Anyone who knows Stephanie knows that she has made a career of putting the needs of everyone else before the needs of herself.  She has spent her own money to help students, taken personal time to visit them when needed, and has always gone above and beyond the responsibilities of a school counselor to ensure the needs of her students are met.  She has ALWAYS been someone that both students, colleagues, and friends have been able to count on, and I believe it's time we return the favor.  If you've able to, any monetary donation would be helpful and appreciated, but if not, there are other ways to help as well - you can help provide a meal by visiting: (website will be posted soon) Thanks so much for your help as they navigate through this!
