(this is Bill in the shelter with their dogs)
Bill has told me at the least they have a $4,000 sewer expense to pay since their insurance (State Farm) will only cover $10,000 out of a $14,000 expense of dealing with sewage back-up in the house. On top of this they have expenses with Servepro, other deductibles ($500 with State Farm), the cost of replacing some personal items, the cost to re-paint (which insurance won't cover), and of course missing work for however long this takes to handle. The goal is to assist the Cobb family as soon as possible with funds because their utilities cannot be turned back on until the sewage / sheetrock / electrical repairs are made. We actually hope to reach $15,000+ in order to meet unexpected expenses (and compensate for some lost work for the foreseeable future (Bill said that would be amazing). Moreover, after seeing photos of their damaged home, it's clear this is going to be a longer process full of expenses. See the updates for new information and photos.
I live in the Sacramento area, but I got to know Bill through the appraisal industry (and we both have blogs, which helped us bond instantly). We've been talking online for nearly a decade. While I've never actually met Bill in person, I know he is a good guy and I count him as a friend. GoFundMe will send funds directly to the Cobb family. Any amount would be appreciated. Bill & Lisa are incredibly grateful. Thank you sincerely for your support and love during this time.
