Meet Lindsey. Aside from being the most charismatic, sensitive, caring and coolest sister I could've ever asked for, she was born with severe cerebral palsy, which has left her in a wheelchair her entire life.
For the past 7 years, and with the help of full time caretakers, she has lived independently in a one bedroom house behind our moms house.
Her house received 5 ft of water, thanks to the Great Flood of 2016. Along with the entire contents of her house, Lindsey lost her most valuable possessions, her power wheelchair and lift van, her only source of independence.
The lift van was her way to get to doctor appts., physical therapy, and the nursery where she selflessly volunteers three times a week.
Unfortunately the power wheelchair is not covered under insurance.
So many people lost everything in this terrible flood, but my sister lost her wheelchair (her legs) and a van that is not easily replaced.
