8-16-16. The date Linda Shuman started her courageous battle against Luekemia. A loved wife, mother, treasured grandmother and a certified Taekwondo instructor. Loved by all who meet her, Linda is a woman who never asks for anything but gives to everyone around her. She is a light to a dark room, a smile when you're feeling down.
Linda's passion lies in teaching the art of Taekwondo and helping the elderly. Week after week she wakes up at 4am to get ready for work at Chelsea Place, where she spends time caring for and loving on her residents. After her long shift she rushes out the door to teach Taekwondo at Shuman's ATA which her and her husband, Al, started from the ground up.
In Linda's spare time she is always coming up with new activities to do with the residents at Chelsea Place. The day before Linda went into the hospital she was putting together a beautiful flower bed around the resident's bird bath.
Linda and her husband Al are two of the most selfless people we know. They are always thinking about others and what they can do for them. We know this is an extremely difficult time for Linda and her family.
Linda's entire world completely stopped on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, when she was informed that she had Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Linda was planning to come home that day but she was suddenly on her way to Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa. It was a complete shock to everyone who knows Linda.
Linda loves the Lord and the Lord loves her more than we could ever imagine. Linda is in great hands and has an amazing support group around her. She is such a blessing to so many people and we want to find a way to help her and her family.
Linda is expected to be at Moffit for at least 3-4 weeks before she will be able to return home. We are not sure when she will be able to start working again and we do not want her to worry about that right now. Linda needs to focus on her health and recovering from her treatments.
We put together this page in response to the people who have asked what they could do to help. We are hoping to take some of the financial burden off Linda and her family so they can focus on what is important.
Thank you so much for helping Linda and her family!! We are incredibly blessed to have Linda and Al in our lives and we would like to do whatever we possibly can to make life a little easier for them.
