Stephen & Kendra Flooded house 2016

Both of us, Stephen and Kendra Gomez live in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Our house filled up with about a foot of water on August 13th in the early morning. For people that know me well, my Twin Brother who lives just down the road came out ok, him and his wife and kids had water get an inch from going over his slab.. We were supposed to be going on vacation to the Gulf Coast for our 4th year Wedding Anniversary, needless to say we did't go. I was in the National Guard for 28 years 7 months 13 days, and this is worse than Hurricane Katrina in my opinion and of course more personal. And I don't have an active duty retirement, I unfortunately needed 8 more years active but budget cuts from Washington DC got me 2 years ago. I work as a civilian with the State Police, "office worker" Kendra works at Blue Cross Blue Shield. "We never believed
the water would ever get that high". And we don't have flood insurance because this couldn't happen....... hmmm.. We are trying to rebuild and replace the items and parts of the house loss so we can move back in to live and reclaim what mother nature took from us. Your donations will be used very wisely. We need to replace a Refrigerator that is brand new (still paying for it actually) and warranty will not cover it, of course 2-3 feet of drywall and all the door frames and trim and flooring in the whole house and all cabinets. All of the living room couches were water damaged beyond repair too. We thankfully were able to save most of our real wood furniture, (bed, end tables, a few of our chest of drawers. Us and our two dogs are fine as we left just before the water got too high on O'neal Lane. This would mean alot, being that I work for the State and I make half of what I did two years ago. It's been hard for the past two years already with just normal life. We never hardly ever go out and eat and are very frugal. Please think of us if you can, only if you can and don't put yourself in personal hardship. Thank you and God Bless everyone.
