The HISTORICAL Green Street Baptist Church was established December 28, 1881 in Selma, Al. We are a church of christian fellowship that is deeply rooted in the community. The HISTORICAL Green Street Baptist Church played a prominent role in the Civil Rights Era by providing food and shelter for the marchers from Selma to Montgomery. Many of the members of Green Street Baptist Church were on the Edmund Pettus Bridge on BLOODY SUNDAY and there were some that also completed the march to Montgomery. The doors of the church were also opened for mass meetings and worship. On April 20, 2016 our church was devastated when a significant portion of the church collapsed after bible study. By the grace and mercy of our loving God there were no injuries. On behalf of our Pastor Willie A. Harris and the congregation, we are prayerfully soliciting funds so that we may be able to move forth with restoring or rebuilding our church and continue our commitment to community service. We are in need of funds to carry out this mission. We thank you in advance for any help that we receive. Galatians 6:9 says: and let us not be weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not. God Bless and thank you.
