Music Is My Medicine
Donation protected
Hi!
My name's Anthony Martin and I am a singer songwriter from The Medway Towns in Kent. I'm a musician and an avid charity fundraiser having so far raised over £85,000 for a variety of charities through live music events including Antfest (it's about charity, but mostly about me) and Herofest.
I'm a huge advocate of mental health awareness because I have been through a number of fairly gnarly personal situations including but not limited to:
The suicide of my father, Phillip John Martin in 2009
The death of my brother, Jonathan William Martin in 2019, after struggles with mental health, homelessness and addiction>
I use music and songwriting as a means to regulate my mental health. For me, writing songs is an exercise in catharsis which helps me better understand the way I perceive the world and gives me comfort and understanding at times when I need it most. It helps me to document the exact way I was feeling at a point in time gives me a focal point for my grief, loss and sorrows that could potentially otherwise be used in more harmful ways. I'm so blessed that I have songwriting as an outlet for my feelings.
Should I reach my target, my intention is to record the rest of my songs and release a full 10 track album. It's been my life's dream to achieve this and hopefully you've got a spare couple of quid to help me achieve it.
