HELP MY FATHER FIGHT CANCER!
Hi, my name is Ashley, my sister Samantha and brother Christopher are desperately trying to raise money to help my 53 year old father with his medical expenses since being diagnosed with Prostate cancer which has metastasized to his bones and lungs. This has been stemming for an unknown amount of time. Since finding out this hard truth in August 2015 after breaking his back due to what we now know was caused by multiple tumors growing on his spinal vertebrae and eating away at the bones, he has since lost more than 40 pounds and had emergency back surgery which resulted in the Orthopaedic spine surgeon placing steel rods in his back parallel to his spine as well as 3 to 4 inch steel bolts/screws to hold the rods in place. In place of his missing bone marrow in his spine, the surgeon replaced it with cement. My father Walter has been wearing his back brace since the surgery as seen in the picture. His back is still very unstable yet that is not what concerns us or the doctors the most. Unfortunately he is still fighting off the growing cancer cells the best his body can. He is unable to begin Chemotherapy treatment due to his extremely weakened immune system but has been through several radiation treatments as well very painful monthly Lupron injections. Sadly the treatments are still not enough and the cancer cells are still growing rapidly.
I live in California and just recently spent what I am afraid will be my last Christmas with him. Chris, Sam and our wonderfully caring and hard working Step-Mother Rebecca are just asking for any and all donations we can get to help with the growing medical bills.
The most important current expenses they need help with are as follows:
1) Monthly health insurance payment $300
2) Gas money to travel to and from several specialty medical doctor appointments each week (each trip is 50+ miles roundtrip).
3) Insurance co-payments to each doctor visit $20
4)Money to pay for his prescriptions not covered by his insurance (i.e level 4 analgesics, antinausea meds and anticancer hormone therapy injections).
With the most immediate donations requested listed above, you can see how one household income can make it hard to keep up with even everyday things such as buying groceries.
With everyone's ego and pride set aside, we are asking our friends and family to help relieve some of the stress associated with battling a life ending cancer diagnosis.
