Last year my brother Eric at 47 was diagnosed with Stage Three Colon Cancer. We lost our older brother Kenny Ray of colon cancer at the age of 27. Since being diagnosed he has been through Chemotherapy and Radiation. Even though being sick he handled the best way he knows how, through his infectious humor. Once he completed his first round of treatment, he was scheduled for surgery.
On April 5th he was ready for the next battle. The procedure he had was a DaVinci assited lower Anterior resection. He spent the night before doing the prep and mentally preparing himself for the side effects and possible outcome from the surgery. We didn’t know at that time if he would have an Ileostomy or a colostomy. With our family and god by his side, his prayers were answered as he didn’t have to be as he called it “bagged”. After his surgery he woke up and was joking around with his friends and girlfriend. I don’t know anything that has ever kept him down. As anyone who knows him, knows his sense of humor.
On June 14th of this year he started Chemotherapy again. This time the treatment is for four months ending September 22nd, and hopefully for the last time. The chemotherapy this go around is quite a bit more intense than what he was used to for the 7 weeks he had to do it before surgery. While he still manages to go to work, he takes days off to sit for the long chemo sessions.
What are we here for? To fight with Eric! To be CONNELLSTRONG! He has been raising his daughter by himself since she was a year and half old. His daughter, Taylor Ann, is his pride and joy. He takes care of his family and helps his friends whenever they ask. With his daughter starting college, his medical bills keep coming in and I know how it weighs on him. Please donate what you can. I love you Eric Wayne, you will beat this!!
