Help pay medical bills
David Lawrence has never been one to be afraid of a fight/battle……from being a combat decorated Marine who served in Iraq as a teenager to fighting fires and running EMS calls at the Springdale Fire Department to co-operations/owner of Lawrence Forensic engineering ……..this loved married father of two wasn’t ready for the Face-Off with COVID-19.
It started Friday July 16th with the typical fever, sore throat dry cough, shortness of breath, weakness, body aches and fatigue……. day after day his symptoms didn’t improve……. His cough became so painful and intense sleep was out of the question……because of his age and prior overall good health and physical fitness……. things should have started to get better……….but they never did.
He was admitted to Northwest Medical Center Springdale…… the care he received was phenomenal…….they were always two steps ahead which is why he’s alive today……Dr Kalyan is THE BEST
With that being said David was intubated before he became to fatigued to fight…….. again the team at Northwest Medical and the autonomy they have was remarkable and because of that the anticipated the possibility of David needing care unavailable in Northwest Arkansas so he was AirVac’d to Baptist in Little Rock……he was considered critically stable for eight plus days…….. he remained sedated and intubated……. total of 10 days on the ventilator ……..IN COMES GAIL MCCRACKEN & her team of superstars……. She called & said looks like he’s ready to be Extubated……… and so
It was……..off the ventilator, mildly confused…..(due to sedation for a prolonged period) but maintaining desirable vital signs he was able to quickly wean from the ventilator to nasal cannula…….our hearts were full but we knew the first round was over- and our natural born fighter made it through…….. but there is along road ahead,……..he was discharged from Baptist to for at home rehab……..physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and more…….doctors visits, specialists from optometry to pulmonology……upcoming echocardiogram, sleep study………the list goes on
driving back and forth from Fayetteville to Little Rock was hard……. But he is so loved that it wasn’t given a second thought……….
This was a humbling experience for David and our friends and family. Tomorrow is never promised and we are so happy to have him back home…….
We have such a strong community that treats one another like family……..
