Hi, my name is Heather and I am Emersyn’s Nana. Emersyn was born on August 5, 2021. Emersyn was healthy and him and mom were doing good. Emersyn went home Saturday morning to meet his big sister Kaisley and all of his other immediate family members. That night Emersyn would not eat but acted like he was hungry. They took his temperature and it was ranging from 98 - 104 degrees and he looked like he was breathing heavily and his belly was retracting. He was taken to the ER and upon arrival he did not have a fever. At this time his O2 level was 98%. Emersyn was hooked up to the oxygen reader and his O2 dropped to 54%. At this point an IV was placed, a chest x-ray done and he was sent to the NICU. They got him settled in there and proceeded to do blood work and attempted to do a lumbar puncture for possible meningitis, but were unable to get any fluid. Emersyn’s O2 levels would drop and a cpap machine was given to help force the air since he would stop breathing on his own. Testing began and after several long hours, it was determined that Emersyn was having seizures. The next step is to find the cause. Emersyn’s parents now make the decision of where to send Emersyn so that he receives the best care possible. One of the options is to send Emersyn to CHOP in Philadelphia. This means that his parents will need money for food, lodging, gas and any other expenses they may incur. Emersyn's big sister will be taken care of by the multiple family members that live within close proximity. Obviously this was very unexpected and his parents are doing the best they can at this point. Any help would be greatly appreciated and updates will be made once available.
